LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The Lee County District Attorney has requested a June trial date for the man accused of killing a Little Caesar’s manager.

Daquan Harris did not appear in court on Wednesday, but both the defense and prosecution agreed that the case would be ready for trial in June.

District Attorney Lewis Lamb called the case “unique” because most of the witnesses are local.

Judge W. James Sizemore Jr. plans to confer with the other judges to determine if they will have courtroom space available then.

“One thing that will make things better is that we are going to have two courtrooms soon, but we don’t have them yet. So, I will update everyone on this calendar as quickly as I can,” said Sizemore.

Even if the case doesn’t go to trial in June, Lamb believes this case will be tried before the end of the year.

Harris is accused of killing his co-worker, Joseph “Joey” Dorminey, as Dorminey was putting money into a safe at the pizza restaurant.

Dorminey loved his job, his friends and family, and his dogs according to his obituary.
