FRIDAY EVENING: The severe threat has diminished for the evening with lingering showers left behind for the next few hours. Skies will gradually clear into the overnight.

SATURDAY: Warm and muggy start in the middle 70s. It will get hot in a hurry with temperatures climbing to the mid to upper 90s. Heat Advisories are in effect from 12pm-8pm for all of South Georgia. Heat indices will range from 105-110. Afternoon showers and storms will arrive with the potential to be strong to severe but they will provide some needed cooling for those who receive it. Main threats are gusty winds and heavy downpours capable of producing a Marginal Risk for flash flooding.

SUNDAY: Very similar to Saturday. Hot and humid with highs in the mid to upper 90s. Rain chances will be there but not as scattered.

EARLY WEEK-FIRST ALERT WEATHER DAYS 8/17-19: The heat dome over South Georgia will strengthen which allows more suppression of afternoon shower and storm development, keeping our area hotter and drier. Temperatures will climb to the triple digits without the heat index factored in. After the humidity, heat indices will climb between 110-115. Extreme Heat Watches and Warnings are likely. Try to stay indoors in the AC as much as you can.

MID WEEK: Still hot and muggy but temperatures will gradually decrease in the mid to upper 90s. Heat advisories are still likely as heat indices will be between 105-110. Afternoon shower and storm development will be more scattered.
