LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) - A South Georgia family is expressing their gratitude to the people of Leesburg who helped search for the puppy, named Monkey, for the past two days.
According to one of the owners, Jack Pitts and Donna Griffin, Monkey was found miles from the crash site near Always Caring Home Care in Leesburg.
The six-month-old puppy was not injured, according to Griffin.

Over the past two days, many in the community responded on social media, organizing searches for the dog. One person reportedly used infrared technology to try to track down the Chihuahua.
Pitts was seriously injured in the crash and is listed as stable in Phoebe’s ICU unit.
