COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A man was arrested Monday, Oct. 20 for a violent home invasion and the assault of an 85-year-old man, according to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO).

The elderly victim was reportedly found by deputies on Friday, Oct. 17 in his home with visible injuries to his wrist, leg and neck. CCSO said that there was blood on the floor and on other items inside the home.

The sheriff’s office did not specify the victim’s current condition, but he did provide investigators with his account of the incident.

The 85-year-old identified his attacker as Jonathan Tucker. The victim said that Tucker had done yard work for him about a year ago.

Tucker now faces felony charges of kidnapping with injury, home invasion in the first degree, aggravated assault and felony theft by taking. If convicted, Tucker could be sentenced to life in prison, substantial fines and other penalties decided by the court, according to CCSO.

According to the victim’s account, he and Tucker saw each other at a local gas station earlier in the week. Tucker allegedly demanded $600 from the victim, claiming that he was not paid for his work on the victim’s yard. The victim told Tucker he did not have the money, CCSO said.

The 85-year-old’s account goes on to say that Tucker knocked on the victim’s door, entered the home and assaulted him.

CCSO said that Tucker provided an alibi and denied knowing the victim at all, but that evidence at the victim’s home along with witness statements were enough to arrest Tucker.

Tucker was arrested on Monday, Oct. 20 and taken to the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center without incident, officials said.
