COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - Authorities are investigating after a man died in a reported drowning at a well-known swimming area in Coffee County.
According to the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO), on April 15, 2026, deputies responded to a location in the Oak Park Community, commonly referred to as the “Blue Hole,” following reports of a possible drowning.
Upon arrival, deputies and investigators began their investigation and learned that a local resident, identified as Demetrious Jackson, had entered the water to swim. Authorities say that while in the water, Jackson experienced complications and was unable to safely return to shore.
He was later pronounced dead at the scene, according to the release.
At this time, officials say there are no indications of foul play.
The incident remains under active investigation by the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office.
