Description
COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - A man is now behind bars after he was found in possession of drugs during a traffic stop.
The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) identified him as Christopher Brent Johnson.
At around 2:55 a.m. on Thursday, July 24, detectives with the Douglas-Coffee Drug Unit conducted a traffic stop on Johnson. During the stop, he was found in possession of a “significant quantity of Methamphetamine and Fentanyl”.
He was then arrested and charged with:
- Trafficking methamphetamine
- Possession of a Schedule II Controlled Substance with intent to distribute (Fentanyl)
Johnson is being held at the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center before his judicial proceedings.
CCSO says these charges are among the most serious under Georgia law, given the highly addictive and deadly nature of the drugs involved. Fentanyl, in even the smallest amounts, continues to claim lives across the state and nation.
“I have sent a clear and unwavering message; if you’re in the drug business, you’re not welcome here. And we will find you, shut you down, and hold you accountable,” said Sheriff Fred Cole.
