MILLER COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Colquitt-Miller County officials are investigating a fire that occurred early Sunday morning, Sept. 13, in Colquitt.

According to Fire Chief Craig Tully, crews were called out to Three Notch Road near Curtis McCorkle Road.

Tully said the homeowner’s two dogs woke him up barking, getting his attention about the fire, which was determined to have started in the attic.

The homeowner was able to safely exit the two-story home uninjured along with his two dogs.

Tully said Early County, Arlington and Seminole counties helped Colquitt-Miller battle the blaze. Crews battled the fire for four hours.

The home was a total loss.
