ATLANTA, Ga. (WALB) - A sheriff’s deputy from Florida was arrested in Georgia in connection with child sexual abuse material.
According to a release by the FBI Atlanta, Carle Miranda Blum, 51, a deputy with the Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office, was arrested on Wednesday, July 23, following a federal complaint charging her with:
- Receipt of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors, which carries a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison with a statutory maximum of up to 30 years.
- Production of visual depictions involving the sexual exploitation of minors, which carried a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in prison and a statutory maximum of up to 20 years.
The complaint says that Blum received multiple videos and images of the victim, who was 17 years old at the time, engaging in sexual conduct.
FBI Atlanta said that in spring 2025, Blum went to Atlanta, where she recorded multiple videos of herself engaging in sex acts with the then-minor victim.
According to FBI Atlanta, sentences are imposed by a federal district court judge based upon the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines and statutes that govern the determination of a sentence in a criminal case.
The Miami-Dade Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation. The United States Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Georgia and FBI Atlanta assisted in Blum’s apprehension and arrest.
According to FBI Atlanta, this case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse, launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. The initiative marshals federal, state, and local resources to locate better, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims.
