SUMTER COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — Two people were found dead in the yard of a home located off Highway 118 in the Leslie area of Sumter County Tuesday morning, according to the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Eric Bryant says the victims were a 67-year-old man and his 88-year-old mother.

According to the sheriff, the man appeared to have been cutting grass with a push mower when he collapsed. Investigators believe his mother may have gone outside to help him before she also collapsed.

The bodies were discovered by a utilities crew after they had reportedly been in the yard for at least a week.

The sheriff says there are no signs of foul play.

The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office, Georgia Bureau of Investigation and the coroner’s office are investigating. Autopsies are underway to determine the exact causes of death.

The victims’ names have not yet been released.
