Description
SAVANNAH, Ga. (WTOC/Gray News) - A mother threw her two young daughters from a third-story window to escape an apartment fire.
Tanasia Grant had to throw her 4-year-old daughter Alaya and 5-year-old daughter Autumn out of the window around 3:30 a.m. Sunday. Two police officers caught the girls.
The rescue was caught on body camera video.
Grant said she woke up to a massive apartment fire and their fire alarms did not sound. Her family and her brother’s family were trapped on the third floor.
“I didn’t really want to throw my kids down but that was my only option and it was just something that I had to do,” Grant said.
The fire consumed the third floor and the building was a total loss, forcing Grant, her daughters, her brother and pregnant sister-in-law to start over.
Thankfully, no one died in the fire, and that is the most important part, Grant said.
