Description

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Two motor vehicles were stolen in Albany on Friday, April 24, followed by another vehicle being stolen on Saturday, April 25, and one more being stolen on April 26, according to the Albany Police Department (APD).

First theft: four-wheeler

One of the two thefts, which occurred on Friday, April 24, at 7:50 p.m., happened at 606 Johnson Road, where a man’s four-wheeler was stolen.

According to the APD, the man reported his 2024 Yamaha YFZ 450R SE was stolen after arranging a meetup through Facebook Marketplace near Johnson Road. The victim said a Black male wearing all black, including a black hat and chain, asked to test-ride the ATV and then drove off, possibly toward the 700 block of Johnson Road. The man was about 5′8″–5′9,″ the police report said.

A witness said a Chevrolet Malibu drove back and forth nearby, and a neighbor told them not to call police. The victim provided the suspect’s Facebook profile/messages and noted that he saw what appeared to be the imprint of a gun in the suspect’s waistband, though it was never shown.

APD said this case is active, and it was forwarded to investigators.

Second theft: car

The second vehicle theft on Friday, April 24, at 9:50 p.m. took place at a home in the 2300 block of Old Dominion Road.

The victim said her white Mercedes-Benz was taken from the driveway while she briefly went inside her boyfriend’s home after returning from the movies, according to the APD.

Officials said the vehicle was later located at the Circle K at 2701 Gillionville Road, and the victim confirmed it was hers and that her personal belongings were still inside. She was then taken to the Law Enforcement Center to meet with investigators regarding a juvenile suspect.

No further information about the suspect has been released.

APD said this case was forwarded to investigators.

Third theft: car

The vehicle theft that occurred on Saturday, April 25, took place at a residence in the 3600 block of Castle Pines Lane at around 10 a.m.

According to the APD, the victim reported his silver 2023 Ford F-150 Platinum was stolen from his backyard driveway sometime between 9:30 p.m. Friday and 9:30 a.m. Saturday. He said his keys were likely left inside, and his work laptop and wallet were in the truck, according to the incident report.

Neighbors’ cameras either showed no motion or were not working, but tire tracks led to a nearby yard, where a witness said he saw a silver Ford F-150 drive through around 2:30 a.m., hitting a trash can and basketball post before fleeing, officials said.

This case remains active, according to the APD.

Fourth theft: car

The vehicle theft that occurred on Sunday, April 26, happened in the 1000 block of West Broad Avenue.

According to APD, the victim reported his white 2013 Mercedes-Benz E350 was stolen from the rear lot of the Exclusive Event Center.

The man told officials that he was intoxicated and unsure whether he left the keys in the car or dropped them. He reportedly could not access the vehicle around 1–2 a.m. and discovered it missing around 5 a.m., according to the APD.

Police checked Flock cameras and saw the vehicle southbound on Radium Springs Road and Dennis Drive around 7:25 a.m.

The case was forwarded to investigations.
