ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) — A man is behind bars after an argument at an Albany nightclub led to a shootout.

The shooting occurred in the 2800 block of Old Dawson Road, in the parking lot shared by Truth Nightclub and Food Lion.

No one was injured; however, six vehicles were struck by gunfire. Police are still searching for additional suspects involved in the shooting.

Albany Police Department (APD) officers responded to Truth Nightclub at approximately 1:46 a.m. Sunday, where they found a large crowd gathered in the nightclub’s parking lot.

Officers recovered 29 spent shell casings from the scene — 20 spent 9mm rounds and 9 spent .300 Blackout rifle rounds. One unspent 9mm round was also recovered.

The 9mm casings were found in the middle row of the Truth Nightclub parking lot, while the .300 Blackout rifle casings were located near the front entrance of Food Lion on Old Dawson Road.

Later that day, investigators identified a vehicle believed to be connected to the shooting in the 200 block of West Broad Avenue.

The driver, 23-year-old Willie Cooper, was arrested and charged with aggravated assault.

Images from the nightclubs surveillance system did capture the alleged shooters in the nightclub before the shooting.

Anyone with information on the shooting or any additional suspects are asked to call 229-436-tips. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
