ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - One man is recovering after being shot outside Hank Vinson’s Meat House over the weekend, and police are searching for the suspected shooter.

Surveillance video shows two men arguing in the parking lot on Saturday before the situation escalated into gunfire. One man was hospitalized with gunshot wounds, while the other fled the scene.

Christian Dozier, a worker at Hank Vinson’s Meat House, said he served the shooter moments before the incident occurred.

“So I gave him his stuff, and he walked out. And then roughly like 10s later, all you hear is some yelling and pop pop,” Dozier said. “And the man you could see the man start to run away, and you see the man that he was shooting at, like, try to go after him with the gun that he had, but it obviously jammed, and he was hopping because of where he got shot at. And it was just a very tense situation.”

The surveillance footage shows the scene Dozier described, with the two men starting to argue before violence erupted.

Dozier said he was concerned about coworkers and customers during the shooting.

“Not scared, but worried because some of the workers, like there was people inside the store. There was people in their cars outside. Mr. Andy was there. There’s people who, like, are under eighteen who work there sometimes, and it’s just like people bring their kids in there, too. It’s just it was very worrisome,” he said.

Dozier said he does not know what started the confrontation but believes it was unrelated to anything that happened at the store.

“No, I assume it was like some previous beef because it happened so fast. Like he I handed him his food, he walked out, and then like that, it was literally he saw he saw the man and they started yelling. And then guns were draw Whatever happened did not happen because of something that happened there. It was obviously something previous,” Dozier said.

He said he never expected something like this to happen at the business.

“I know it’s not a good area, but you would still think that after the business is there for thirty years and some of the nature of Mr. Andy and everything he does for the community, you would think that that that something like that wouldn’t happen right there,” Dozier said.

The Albany Police Department has identified the suspect as Demetrius Brown and is asking for the public’s help in locating him. Police say Brown is considered armed and dangerous.
