Description
LEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) — The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) confirmed to WALB that there is no longer a threat to the public after a practice grenade was found at the intersection of Old Leesburg Road and Winding Way in Lee County.
The call about a possible explosive in the area came in at about 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 6, officials said.
The first four homes off Old Leesburg Road were evacuated for more than two hours as officials evaluated the situation and removed the explosive.
The GBI confirmed that the grenade was not live and that there was no threat to the public.
As of 2:13 p.m., evacuated residents were allowed to return to their homes.
