Description
OCILLA, Ga. (WALB) – As the 2025–2026 school year begins, the City of Ocilla will reinstate its School Zone Safety Program on Friday, August 1, 2025.
The initiative, conducted in partnership with RedSpeed Georgia, aims to enhance student safety by enforcing reduced speed limits in designated school zones.
The program will operate only on school days, starting one hour before classes begin and continuing until one hour after school dismissal. Clear signage will be in place to alert drivers when school zone speed limits are active.
City officials urge all motorists to exercise caution, adhere to posted speed limits, and stay alert while driving through school zones to help protect students and school staff.
