ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - On Tuesday, March 17, an officer-involved accident involving an Albany Police Department (APD) officer near Albany State University’s East campus led to two hospitalizations, according to Georgia State Patrol (GSP).

GSP identified the APD officer as Jade Jackson, who was driving a 2018 Ford Taurus Police. The other driver was identified as Jahziyah D. Johnson, who was driving a 2007 Hyundai.

Officials say the accident happened when Officer Jackson was traveling south on Radium Springs Road, and Johnson was traveling east on Billy Black Drive.

Johnson entered the intersection of Billy Black Drive and Radium Springs Road when Officer Jackson attempted to travel through the intersection of Radium Springs Road and Billy Black Drive and struck Johnson’s vehicle, according to GSP.

Officials say the impact caused Johnson’s vehicle (Hyundai) to rotate and overturn.

“Both drivers were transported to Phoebe Putney Hospital."
