AMERICUS, Ga. (WALB) - A 10-month-long investigation led to several arrests across the state.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) operation, known as “Operation Halftime,” ended on Friday, Oct. 10.

Eight warrants were issued for men in Sumter, Webster, Fulton, Henry and Dougherty counties. Seventeen kilograms, or roughly 37 pounds, of suspected cocaine, along with 10 firearms, were seized in the investigation

According to the GBI, seven of the men were arrested in Sumter County. They are facing a variety of drug charges related to trafficking cocaine.

  • Maurice Antwan Young, 42, of Preston, Georgia, was arrested for Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine.
  • Mario Lanorris Robinson, 42, of Fulton County, Georgia, was arrested for Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine.
  • Alvin Paige, 42, of Richland, Georgia, was arrested for Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine.
  • Clinton Terran Thomas, 46, of Albany, was arrested for Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine.
  • Derrick Flowers, 40, of Americus, was arrested for Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine.
  • Calvin Jerome Smith, 42, of Americus, was arrested for Conspiracy to Traffic Cocaine.
  • Jalen Lewis, 22, of Albany, was arrested for Trafficking Cocaine.
  • John Johnson, 48, of Buena Vista, Georgia, was arrested for Possession of Cocaine.

The GBI says additional arrests are expected in this investigation. Multiple state and local agencies participated throughout the investigation.
