Description

ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital says that with grocery prices being high and government assistance being delayed, they decided to help bridge the gap.

The hospital donated a total of four $10,000 checks to area food banks that provide healthy food to Southwest Georgians in need.

The four organizations include:

  • Feeding the Valley in Albany
  • Pinson Medical Methodist Church in Sylvester
  • Harvest of Hope in Americus
  • Flint River Fresh in Albany

“Food and health are inseparable. Food insecurity is a real issue across our service area. We wanted to support organizations that are already doing incredible work in our communities, especially now with SNAP delays causing added strain for so many families”

The healthcare organization says they will continue to stand by Southwest Georgia food banks as they continue feeding hope.
