CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - Cordele-Crisp County’s Watermelon Festival is back for its 76th year on Saturday, June 28th!

Join WALB for a sneak peek at all the fun planned for this year’s celebration.

WALB was live from Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club on Friday, June 27th at 12:30 p.m. to highlight what makes this annual event a summertime favorite. Our team talked with community leaders, vendors, organizers, and more to give you a behind-the-scenes look at what’s in store.

From sweet slices of watermelon and local food vendors to arts and crafts, live music, and family-friendly activities, the Watermelon Festival brings the community together for a full day of fun.

The main event takes place Saturday, June 28th at Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club, 2459-H US Highway 280 West, Cordele, GA 31015. The parade route will begin at the corner of 6th Street & 15th Avenue and travel East on 15th Ave ending at Owens St.

After the parade, visit the Lake Blackshear Resort and Golf Club to see all the amazing vendors, activities, food and more the Watermelon Festival has to offer. Businesses from across South Georgia will be on-site at the Watermelon Festival, so don’t miss your opportunity to shop from their amazing lineup of vendors. Once you’re done shopping, you can grab tasty treats, snacks and more from the multiple food and beverage vendors! After you’ve shopped and dined, stick around to catch the amazing live entertainment offerings of this year’s Watermelon Festival.
