WASHINGTON COUNTY, Ga. — On Friday night, October 10th, around 9:25 p.m., Washington County 911 received a call reporting a possible plane crash. One of the individuals onboard contacted dispatch, stating that their aircraft had gone down in a wooded area near Highway 68 and Highway 540.
Deputies, firefighters, and EMS personnel immediately responded to the scene. Using drones and coordinated ground efforts, responders located the two occupants in a wooded area behind the Limestone Plant on Short 68.
Both individuals were evaluated by EMS and found to have only minor injuries. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) has been notified and will handle the investigation into the incident.
Sheriff Cochran commended the teamwork and quick response of everyone involved.
“I want to commend everyone involved — from our 911 dispatchers to the deputies, firefighters, EMS personnel, and community members who assisted in the search and rescue,” Sheriff Cochran said. “Teamwork is essential in situations like this, and last night was a clear example of what can be accomplished when we work together.”
