Description
LEE CO, Ga. (WALB) - Residents of Lee County may notice smoke or fire near roadways and wooded areas today.
Lee County Fire & Emergency Services says multiple prescribed burns are happening across the county.
The burns are permitted through the Georgia Forestry Commission and follow approved safety guidelines, with crews on site and fire breaks in place.
Prescribed burns are an important tool for reducing wildfire risk and maintaining healthy forests.
Officials advise that if you are unsure whether a fire is controlled, call 911 immediately. Stay aware and stay safe while these burns are conducted.
