ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Albany Police Department (APD) said its Repeat Offender Task Force carried out Operation “Blue Strike” from March 16–20, 2026, a multi-agency effort aimed at targeting repeat offenders, increasing proactive enforcement and improving public safety.
According to APD, the operation resulted in:
- Over 500 traffic stops
- Over 430 warnings
- Over 130 citations
- More than 10 DUI arrests
- 28 total arrests, including 11 involving active warrants
- Over 14 additional arrest warrants issued
- Five misdemeanor and felony drug-related cases
- Two open container violations
- About 15 compliance checks were conducted on felony probationers and parolees
“We did conduct criminal compliance checks at certain locations, ranging from people who were on some form of active supervision, meaning they were on state parole or probation.”
APD said multiple agencies and units assisted with the enforcement detail, including:
- Albany-Dougherty Special Investigative Unit
- Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office
- Dougherty County Police Department of Community Supervision
- Georgia State Patrol
- Commercial Vehicle Enforcement (formerly MCCD)
- Georgia Department of Natural Resources
- Albany-Dougherty Code Enforcement
Police said Friday’s planned operation was canceled as personnel were redirected to assist in the search for missing juvenile Jacayden McCray.
“On the last day of the operation, we switched it and devoted all resources to search for Jacayden.”
APD said Georgia Emergency Search and Rescue of Moultrie provided a search dog and an underwater drone, and Dr. La’Quata Sumter provided aerial drone support.
APD said the detail led to significant enforcement activity, the apprehension of wanted individuals and compliance checks, highlighting interagency collaboration and a commitment to public safety.
