A Tifton-based food truck is bringing fair-style sweets and a flawless food safety record across South Georgia.

Dairy Kingz recently earned a perfect score of 100 on its routine food service health inspection, a milestone owner Jamal Smith credits to a decade of hands-on experience in commercial kitchens.

“I’m very comfortable with inspections due to me working in the food industry for about 10 years,” Smith said, noting that his culinary career started at Pizza Hut, where he eventually worked his way up to head cook.

Smith and his business partner founded Dairy Kingz out of a shared love for classic desserts like milkshakes and funnel cakes, aiming to capture the excitement of carnival treats year-round.

“We want to like combine those ideas together to try to make like a fair-type of experience for our customers,” Smith said.

That creativity is reflected across the food truck’s dessert-focused menu. Inspired by childhood trips to Dairy Queen and nostalgic treats like the Choco Taco, Smith crafted his own twists, including an ice cream taco with strawberry cheesecake filling, custom blizzards, and fried pound cake.

The truck’s signature funnel cakes go well beyond standard powdered sugar, featuring toppings inspired by classic Southern sweets.

“You can put a little bit of different toppings like cheesecake, ice cream, any type of cookies, candy,” Smith said. “So we basically try to combine like the blizzard into the funnel cake or your favorite dessert into a funnel cake like banana pudding, sweet potato pie, peach cobbler — any type of dessert we want to combine with the funnel cake.”

While based in Tifton, Dairy Kingz travels across South Georgia, setting up in communities such as Moultrie, Albany, Adel, and Nashville in Berrien County. The truck frequently stops at school events, youth sporting events, football and basketball games, and local fall festivals.

“We sometimes go to like school events. We try to support all kids and try to help kids try to be better,” Smith said. “We try to attend like a lot of events so we can be where everyone can try our food and enjoy it.”
