ADEL, Ga. (WALB) — Dairy Queen located on 1804 East Oglethorpe Blvd got a 91 on its food service inspection on Friday, August 7.

They got a total of four infractions; two of them were repeat violations, and the other two were new violations.

A local nutrition favorite in Cook County is celebrating a major milestone under new leadership.

Blue Sky Nutrition, located in Adel, Georgia, recently earned a perfect 100 on its food service inspection—a feat the business’s new owner says reflects their deep commitment to customer safety.

Caitlyn Phillips recently stepped into the role of owner in August, taking over the reins from her mother, Jennifer Dow, who originally opened the shop nearly three years ago.

“The shop actually opened in September three years ago,” Phillips said. “This coming September, we are celebrating our three-year anniversary. It was opened by my mother Jennifer... and just recently we’ve announced in August I took over as owner, and it has been an amazing experience. I was with her the whole time she was open, and now I get to take over and be a bigger part of it.”

For Phillips, becoming a business owner is a dream realized, even if the timing was a pleasant surprise.

“Becoming a business owner was something I’ve always wanted to do,” Phillips shared. “If you asked me a year ago, I probably wouldn’t have known that it would have happened by now, but I’m very excited to be stepping into these shoes.”

A Commitment to Cleanliness and Community

The perfect score on the recent health inspection was no accident. Phillips attributes the success to a rigorous daily standard and an encouraging partnership with local inspectors.

“We try to put the safety and health of our customers at the forefront of everything we do,” Phillips said. “So we follow everything that our health inspector says to a T.”

She described the inspection process as collaborative and positive. “We have a wonderful inspector, and she is incredibly kind and informative. She came and was helping me find out things that I could do that were just an improvement, but she was very encouraging. We have been very detailed in the way that we run our shop, so she was very happy with everything that she saw.”

According to Phillips, maintaining a clean shop goes far beyond passing an exam—it is about the safety of local families.

“It is important because every customer that comes in, we want them to feel everything they’re going to walk out with is safe and healthy for their bodies,” she said. “Our products are going to schools and to homes and for children... and it’s important to us to make sure that everything is handled in a safe manner.”

Blue Sky Nutrition has built a reputation in Adel for its wide variety of health-conscious offerings, catering to a diverse crowd ranging from students to local athletes.

“We love the Adel community, and it’s an absolute pleasure to serve them because they are so kind,” Phillips said. “I would love for more of Adel to find us as well. There’s so many great things that can happen from the shop... We support Adel in so many things, and it’s very exciting to look at the future and just think of all the possibilities.”
