Description

LEESBURG, Ga. (WALB) - On this week’s Restaurant Roundup, Passion and Bliss, owned by Sheri Smith, was featured for receiving a perfect score on their most recent food service inspection that took place on Feb. 11.

Passion and Bliss is a one-stop shop for all things sandwiches, soups, salads and their hand-dipped ice cream.

The name Passion and Bliss was specially crafted to show what Smith is most passionate about in her life.

“The reason of the name for ‘Passion and Bliss’ is I’m passionate about health, and the Bliss comes from everybody loves ice cream. So part of that passion for health is making sure people are getting food that is not going to make them sick.”

Before entering the food service industry, Smith was still in a field that involved working closely with the public.

“They say ‘retired,’ but I was just a tired physician assistant... My business partner was a nurse practitioner, and so we’ve switched gears from the medical into the food industry, and we’re very excited.”

With no prior experience in the restaurant industry, Smith and her team naturally had a fear of the unknown. Despite their fears, they were able to prepare themselves for what was to come in this field that was new for them.

“Myself, my partner and our lead person all have ServSafe Certifications, so we were prepared going in before we opened, and we just continue to ask the questions that we need to with the environmental agency, and we look online if we need to.”

Smith said the following about how her team maintains food safety standards on a day-to-day basis.

“The biggest thing is we have lists upon lists of exactly what needs to be done, and they’re expected to follow that to the letter. We’ve created an environment... where it’s easy and simple to know exactly what to do and to maintain appropriately.”

Passion and Bliss has a lot to offer in the future with new menu items like their goat cheese, Granny Smith apple and arugula salad, and their Bacon Lettuce Tomato sandwich.

Smith said that she and her team also intend to begin catering services.

“We’re about to come out with our catering menu, so we hope to be able to open that up. And we are also going to start a delivery service for the schools.”

Smith said she hopes to offer food delivery services to all six of the Lee County Schools.
