VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - A new urgent care is now serving patients who previously had to drive across town for care. Businesses and residents are getting excited for other improvement projects.

Nick Perry, Ella’s Top Corral said, “The Southside just needs a slight revitalization…having urgent care, having Ella’s, having other local businesses on this side of town is what we need.”

Perry has watched the changes and upgrades of the Southside for the last 20 years, now seeing more affordable housing and healthcare is a plus.

Perry said, “It’s just a blessing to be able to watch small communities also small businesses develop overtime.”

The Griffin Campus eliminates an almost 30-minute drive to the other SGMC urgent care and adds an option for nearby cities... a solution many other south Georgia communities are desperate for.

Dr. Elizabeth Flail, Co-Director of Emergency and Urgent Care, said, “Lake Park and Echols County an easier access point for the further areas of our region that need care, so I think it’s a great resource and was needed.”

The urgent care sits near existing medical practices, connecting new and existing patients to follow-up care.

Flail said, “It’s really continuity of care that you might not get if you go to any urgent care in town. You’re not connected to the resources that SGMC offers.”
