Description
MITCHELL COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) - The reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the individual responsible for the hit-and-run death of a Mitchell County man has increased once again.
It has been over a year since 88-year-old Amos Anderson was struck and killed in a hit-and-run on Mount Olive Road in Mitchell County.
The incident occurred on Sept. 20, 2024, when Anderson was doing yard work in front of his home. According to authorities, the vehicle involved was headed east at the time of impact, then reversed and drove off in a westbound direction. Anderson was found in a ditch on the south side of the road.
Investigators believe the suspect’s vehicle is medium metallic gray in color, with likely damage to the front passenger-side headlight area. Vehicles under consideration include late-1990s Chevrolet Silverado, 90s Ford Ranger, Bronco, or Explorer.
The Anderson family, along with community supporters, has raised the reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction, now totaling $2,700.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the Georgia State Patrol at 229-931-7000 or the Mitchell County Sheriff’s Office at 229-336-2032. Anyone wishing to contribute to the reward may email [email protected] for more information.
