SHELLMAN, Ga. (WALB) - A local business owner is offering a reward for information that leads to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible for shooting a dog.

Mark Balentine, owner of Rustic Technologies says, he is offering a $500 reward and a free laptop.

Balentine says a person shot the dog with a small caliber bullet in the neck and left the dog for dead.

He does not know who owns the dog but says the dog was malnourished, covered in fleas with bites and cuts.

The dog was reportedly shot and showed up to Balentine’s business around 8am. Right now, the dog is under medical care and is recovering from surgery. Balentine says the Shellman Police Department has started an investigation.

Balentine is now asking anyone with information on who shot the dog, contact Rustic Technologies at 229-380-8324, 288 Buford Street, Shellman, or the Shellman Police Department at (229) 679-5382.
