ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - The Dougherty County High School community is mourning a basketball player.

According to a post by the Dougherty High Basketball Page, Eric Bass Jr. passed away recently.

“Rest up, champ. Your unwavering strength, unbreakable spirit, and unrelenting fight inspired us all to be better people. He will forever be part of Trojan Nation. Prayers up for his family and friends during these tough times.”

In 2024, WALB reported that Bass shot the first bucket after beating cancer.
