Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A Ryder box truck struck the railroad overpass on East Broad Avenue just before noon on Monday, March 16, blocking traffic for about an hour.

Traffic blocked, tow truck called
The Albany Police Department blocked eastbound traffic from South Broadway Street to the overpass following the incident. The westbound lane of East Broad Avenue was also blocked while the truck remained stuck under the overpass.
A tow truck arrived just after 12:30 p.m. and crews used a winch to pull the box truck out from under the overpass. The truck’s roof was damaged. The road reopened around 1 p.m.

Damage and citations unclear
It is unclear whether the overpass sustained damage. It is also unclear whether the driver was injured or will face citations. WALB is working to obtain a copy of the incident report.
