Description
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – Second Harvest of South Georgia is preparing to feed thousands of families during its annual Thanksgiving for Thousands food distribution Tuesday morning.
The event begins November 25 at 7:30 a.m. at Valdosta High School, located at 4590 Inner Perimeter Road. It operates on a first-come, first-served basis, with a limit of one household per vehicle. Organizers say up to 1,000 vehicles are expected. No vehicles will be allowed on-site before 5 a.m., and the line will form southbound only on Inner Perimeter Road.

This year marks the first time the event will include turkey distribution, supported by more than 100 volunteers. Among them are Jack and Jill of America, Inc. members Kendall Harden and Angela Kimber, who say the mission is about more than food.
“This is a way to show people we care, and to remind families that they are not alone. We’re here to support them and make sure their bellies are full this Thanksgiving,” they shared.
Organizers, families in line, and Valdosta High volunteers helping with traffic are expected to weigh in on turnout and why the need continues to grow in South Georgia.

WALB’s Taylor Lewis will have more on the event and its community impact.
