BAINBRIDGE, Ga. (WALB) — Six men were found guilty and sentenced after a week-long trial in Bainbridge.

According to court records, the trial began Monday, Aug. 17, in Bainbridge.

Co-defendants Greg Turner, LaDarrius Campbell, Zaquan Durant, Henry Knight, Terrance Anderson and Cameron Bell were found guilty of participating in the killing of 16-year-old K’Darius Smart on Sims Street in Bainbridge.

The case was tried by District Attorney Joe Mulholland of the South Georgia Circuit.

According to court records, the group, primarily residing in Tallahassee, Florida, drove to Bainbridge to fight the victim, which escalated to gun violence.

The three shooters, identified as Turner, Campbell and Durant, were convicted of voluntary manslaughter and aggravated assault.

The remaining defendants, Knight, Anderson and Bell, were convicted as parties to a crime and convicted of aggravated assault.

The senseless gun violence on the streets needs to end. By the time it comes to Court, there is little for us to do but incarcerate those that did it to prevent any further shootings. My thoughts and prayers are with the Smart and Flagler family, and hope this outcome can given them some closure.

Chief Judge Heather Lanier sentenced all six defendants to 40 years to serve in the Georgia Department of Corrections.
