ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - Congressman Sanford D. Bishop Jr. held a reception Saturday, April 11 honoring the winners of the 2026 Congressional Art Competition.
The event was held at the Albany Museum of Art, showcasing winners from Georgia’s 2nd Congressional District.
Queasia Arnold, a 12th-grade student at Westover High School in Albany, won first place. Arnold’s work is titled “Chin Up.”
According to Bishop, the first-place winner’s work will be displayed in the underground walkway between the Cannon House Office Building and the U.S. Capitol.
Brianna Edward, an 11th-grade student at Thomasville High School in Thomasville, won second place. Edward’s work is titled “Moving Forward.”
Makayla Bailey, an 11th-grade student at Monroe High School in Albany, won third place. Bailey’s work is titled “Rooted in Remembrance.”
An honorable mention award went to Jemiah Hall from Dougherty Comprehensive High School in Albany. Hall’s work is titled “Soul of the Orchid.”
“I am happy that this competition brought together so many young artists,” Bishop said. “Their work adds to the rich fabric of our community, and I am grateful for our schools, art faculties, community art organizations, museums, parents, and others who all play a crucial role in nurturing their talent and success.”
