TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) — WALB has confirmed that a standoff has ended, after two Tifton Police officers were shot while attempting to serve a search warrant Friday, Dec, 5. Both officers are currently in stable condition.
The suspect barricaded themselves inside a home near the 800 block of Lee Avenue. Details surrounding the suspect are unknown at this time.
A spokesperson with the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) said the GBI was requested by the Tifton Police Department (TPD) to investigate the officer-involved shooting. The GBI defines an officer-involved shooting as a shooting incident where an officer used their firearm during their duties.

Multiple surrounding law enforcement agencies assisted TPD during the standoff.
“Our thoughts and prayers for the two Tifton PD officers who were shot this morning while on a call,” Tift County Sheriff, Sheriff Gene Scarbrough said. “A huge thank you to all the agencies that showed up to help in any way possible to get the suspect shooter arrested and incarcerated without further injury.”
U.S. Congressman Austin Scott also posted on Facebook, saying, “Two Tifton police officers were shot in the line of duty today and are reported to be in stable condition, according to city officials. Please join me in praying for the recovery of our officers and for the protection of those during this developing situation.”
