CCSO said the Georgia Governor's Office of Highway Safety has awarded it a $27,014.40 High Visibility Enforcement grant, which was designed to "change unlawful and dangerous driving behaviors that contribute to most of the fatal and serious-injury traffic crashes," in the state.
Crisp County Sheriff Billy Hancock plans to use the funds "to help keep Georgia roads safe at no cost to our taxpayers," he said in a post on Facebook.
The sheriff's office also plans to conduct mobilizations throughout the year in coordination with the state's year-round waves of high visibility patrols.
CCSO said the grant will continue through September of next year.
