Description
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) - Students returned to Stuart Lindsey Mason Elementary School Monday morning following last week’s deadly shooting on campus.
In a message shared on Facebook, the school acknowledged the emotional toll the incident has taken on the community and emphasized its commitment to supporting both students and staff through the healing process.
“Throughout the day, our focus will be on providing a safe, calm, and supportive learning environment for all,” the school wrote. “Additional counselors and mental health professionals will be on campus to offer emotional support to students and staff, and will continue to be available in the coming days as needed.”
School officials also confirmed that local law enforcement will maintain an increased presence on and around campus to ensure added safety and reassurance.
Parents were encouraged to check in daily with their children and reach out to school counselors or administrators if additional support is needed.
“Together, we will continue to care for, support, and uplift one another as a school family,” the post concluded.
