Description
ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - A new study by InnerBody analyzing CDC and Census data finds that race and location are significant factors in healthcare access across Georgia and the nation.
Twelve percent of Georgia residents are uninsured, compared to the national average of 8 percent, according to the study.
The InnerBody study identified several key disparities across racial groups:
- American Indians have the highest uninsured rate nationwide.
- Hispanic communities face poorer access to care in nearly 80 percent of measures examined.
- Black Americans have a life expectancy of 74 years, compared to 85 years for Asian Americans.
Experts said gaps in insurance coverage and quality of care are critical factors in the nation’s current state of inequity.
