PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, Va. (WSET) — The man accused of opening fire in Pittsylvania County and injuring three deputies with shrapnel has been charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer.
On Wednesday night ABC13 reported on an incident off Blue Jay Lane in the county, where three deputies went to serve warrants and a protective order. But when they approached the home, Pittsylvania County Sheriff Mike Taylor said they were met with gunfire.

All three were struck by shrapnel and injured, but none of their injuries were serious, although one was taken to the ER out of caution; Sheriff Taylor said the deputies are just shaken up.
The suspect, James Andreu Lehnerd, was arrested after an hours-long standoff.
Now Lehnerd is facing charges, including a felony charge of Attempted Murder of a Law Enforcement Officer. He's also charged with Pointing/Brandishing a Firearm and Trespassing.
He is in court Thursday morning for an arraignment hearing. He was given a court-appointed attorney.
