ALBANY, Ga. (WALB) - An Albany business that caters to all ages is asking for the community’s help to stay open.

The Nerd Store announced on their Facebook page that the business will be closing its doors on Aug. 9, 2025. The store is located at 2610 Dawson Road, Suite 14, in Albany. The business opened in the Hunters Mill Shopping Center in Aug. 2024.

The owner, Daniel Vanoteghem, gave the following statement to WALB:

“For the past year, The Nerd Store has been more than a shop—it’s been a gathering place, a home base, and a community for fans, gamers, and friends of all ages. As we prepare to close our current doors, we don’t want the story to end here. 

We’re launching a GoFundMe to help us take the next step: securing a new building so The Nerd Store can continue to be the space where friendships are made."
