WASHINGTON (7News) — Thousands will converge on the National Mall Friday morning for one of the nation's largest anti-abortion activist rallies.
Hearing from lawmakers, anti-abortion activists, and religious leaders, National March for Life rallygoers will gather under the base of the Washington Monument before marching to the Supreme Court on a route longer than previous years' events, officials said. Thousands recently gathered at the nearby Lincoln Memorial for the People's March.
This year's event, according to organizers, is themed 'Life: Why We March', which will focus on "acknowledging the humanity of each person, while also highlighting the need to protect and support both mother and child through the thousands of resources available to them."
Since the overturning of Roe v. Wade in 2022, event organizers have shifted more toward care for mothers and children during and after pregnancy. Last year's theme was "With every woman, for every child."

EVENT SCHEDULE
Events are expected to begin at around 11 a.m. with a Pre-Rally Concert, which will transition into speakers starting at noon. The Christian-based rock group Upspoken is set to perform during the event, officials said.
At around 1 p.m., rallygoers will leave the Washington Monument and head down Constitution Avenue, Northwest, and onto Pennsylvania Avenue, NW before crossing the Mall and continuing up Independence Avenue, Southwest. The march ends at the front of the Supreme Court building on First Street, Northeast.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson, and US Congressman Chris Smith (R-NJ) are listed as anticipated speakers at the event.
