TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) -The Tiftarea Community Food Bank needs donations in order to continue feeding those in the Tift County area who are experiencing food insecurity.

According to the Georgia Mountain Food Bank, 14.9% of Georgians are food insecure. Additionally, 19.6% of Georgia children live in food-insecure households, meaning they don’t always know where their next meal will come from.

Tiftarea Community Food Bank, Inc., an established non-profit since 1984,is working to address this issue, but they need donations and volunteers in order to continue their work.

With grant money running low, the food bank is having to pay Second Harvest for food supplies. The food bank hopes to partner with local banks, schools, churches, grocery stores, food trucks and other organizations to host food drives in the coming months.

Anyone looking to get in contact with the Tiftarea Community Food Bank can call President Marilyn Scott at (229) 339-4486 or our Secretary David Shepard at (229) 392-2688.
