TIFTON, Ga. (WALB) - Tifton police are investigating the death of a 5-month-old boy after officers responded to a report of an unresponsive infant early Thursday, April 23, morning.
The Tifton Police Department said officers were called to Virginia Avenue at about 5:05 a.m. on Thursday. When officers arrived, they found the child deceased.
According to police, the child’s father told investigators he woke up and found the baby not breathing or moving.
The child’s remains were transported to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, police said.
The incident remains under investigation. Police said no additional information is available pending the results of the autopsy.
