ASHBURN, Ga. (WALB) — A trial date has been set for an Ashburn man accused of murder in a fatal Sept. 2025 shooting.

According to Tifton Judicial Circuit District Attorney Patrick Warren, the trial for Zachary Taylor Brown-Earnest is scheduled to begin on Monday, Aug. 31, 2026, starting with jury selection in Turner County.

Brown-Earnest faces:

• Murder
• Aggravated assault
• Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony

Case Background

The charges stem from a fatal shooting that occurred in Sept. 2025. At approximately 12:55 a.m. on a Saturday, Ashburn Police were called to a home in the 300 block of West End Street. Ten minutes later, local authorities requested the assistance of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI).

According to GBI investigators, a gathering was taking place at the residence when an argument broke out between Brown-Earnest and the victim, identified by the District Attorney’s office as Jason Wynn (initially identified in early GBI reports as Sinclair Wynn, 35).

During the dispute, Brown-Earnest allegedly shot Wynn. After being shot, Wynn attempted to flee to his car, where he collapsed and was pronounced dead at the scene.
