VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) — Detectives with the Valdosta Police Department are investigating after an unresponsive man was found dead on Tuesday, Aug. 11, on Smithland Place Road.

According to Valdosta Police Chief Leslie Manahan, a concerned citizen called 911 after passing by a male lying on the ground who was unresponsive.

When officers arrived on the scene, they located the man lying on the ground with a bicycle between his legs.

First responders began life-saving measures until personnel from Valdosta Fire and Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived, according to Manahan.

The man was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At this time, detectives have found no signs of foul play. Detectives and Crime Scene Personnel are actively investigating the incident.
