Description
CORDELE, Ga. (WALB) - The Cordele Police Department (CPD) announced on Saturday that the appearance of a missing 19-year-old may have changed.
CPD said that Nyeasha Pickens may not have red hair now, but the outfit in the photo is what she was last seen in.
It was previously reported that Pickens was last seen in a white crop top and cheetah print shorts with “big mama” written across the back.
Cordele Police Chief Jalon Heard told WALB that the department is receiving a lot of tips from the community, which have been useful in continuing this investigation.
Heard says multiple law enforcement agencies have collaborated to bring the 19-year-old home.
On Friday night, the Turner County Sheriff’s Office loaned their drones and some manpower to CPD. Using the drones allowed officers to get a better look at several fields and open spaces nearby, but they were not successful at uncovering new information.
“I just want to reemphasize that any searches that you see from law enforcement that are in fields or on the side of the road or anything like that, we don’t have any credible information that Nyeasha is in danger or that something has happened to her. Obviously, as the days go by, it’s obviously more concerning, but we don’t have anything credible right now,” said Chief Heard.
Those close to Nyeasha and other news outlets have reported that on the night of her disappearance, Nyeasha was seen leaving the gas station with a particular man.
“I can tell you that that name comes from Cordele Police Officer’s initial report. As you can imagine, a lot of information comes in when the investigation started. There was some information that was received stating that a possible “Quan” might have been with her. I can tell you that lead was investigated and looked into, and there was no information obtained from it," said Chief Heard.
The family told WALB that they are spending the day searching near and around Lake Blackshear.
Anyone with information on her whereabouts is asked to call the tipline at 1-800-597-8477 or use the “SeeSend APP” using the keywords “Nyeasha” or “Cordele Missing Person”.
