VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) – The suspect in the South Georgia prom after-party shooting that left two teens injured has turned himself in.
Overnight on Thursday, May 15, 2025, the suspect, identified as JaMaurion Fountain, 21, voluntarily surrendered at the Lowndes County Jail, according to local authorities.
This follows an investigation into a violent incident that occurred over the weekend at a prom after-party. Police said the shooting left two teenagers wounded, prompting a manhunt and community concerns.
The Valdosta Police Department had previously issued a warrant for Fountain’s arrest in connection with the shooting.
According to VPD, he is facing several felony charges including:
- 5 counts of aggravated assault (felony)
- 2 counts of cruelty to children in the 1st degree (felony)
- Possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony (felony)
- Damage to property (felony)
- Terroristic threats (felony)
