Description
VALDOSTA, Ga. (WALB) — The city of Valdosta said residents and businesses will be under mandatory outdoor water restrictions starting April 15.
Starting Wednesday, April 15, residents and businesses may only water from 4 p.m. to 10 a.m. each day. Watering outside that approved window can lead to fines or service disconnections.
“Protecting our water supply is a shared responsibility,” said Utilities Director Jason Barnes. “These restrictions are not just about compliance; they are about sustainability. By adjusting when and how we use water, we can help ensure that our system remains reliable for everyone, especially during periods of drought.”
In a news release, the city offered additional ways customers can reduce wasting water:
- Avoid watering sidewalks, driveways and other paved surfaces
- Repair leaks promptly
- Consider postponing new landscaping projects
- Use water efficiently during permitted hours
The city of Valdosta officials said they appreciate the community’s cooperation and commitment to conserving water during this critical time.
