COFFEE COUNTY, Ga. (WALB) – A Coffee County woman is behind bars after authorities say she violated Georgia’s sex offender registry requirements.

On August 20, 2025, the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office charged Linda Fay Steedley, 44, with failing to comply with the state’s registry laws.

According to investigators, Steedley had previously registered in Coffee County as homeless but was later found living in an outbuilding on church property without notifying authorities of her change in residence.

Under OCGA 42-1-12(n), registered sex offenders must report in person at least 72 hours before any change of address. Investigators determined Steedley not only failed to comply but also gave false information about her residence.

She was arrested and taken to the Coffee County Pre-Trial Detention Center for processing.

More details are available in the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office release here.
