VALDOSTA, Ga. (WCTV) - Four teenagers are behind bars after a verbal fight escalated into a shooting, according to a press release from the Valdosta Police Department.
The incident unfolded on Friday, Feb. 27, at 11:15 p.m. at a home in the 700 block of Lausanne Drive, according to authorities. Police say a 16-year-old and his stepfather got into a verbal fight that evening.

During the fight, the stepson allegedly contacted three of his friends, who arrived at the home and involved themselves the conflict.
“As the stepfather attempted to leave the residence in a vehicle to get away from the situation, the vehicle that he was leaving in was shot several times, causing damage to the car,” according to the VPD press release.
One of the juveniles attempted to flee but was apprehended. Officers recovered a backpack that was dropped during the chase. The backpack reportedly contained two firearms and narcotics.
The 16-year-old stepson, another 16-year-old, 17-year-old and 18-year-old Dimitrius Brabson were arrested, according to the police department. They are all charged with aggravated assault and possession of a firearm during a crime, among other charges, according to VPD.
