HOUSTON COUNTY, Ga. (WGXA) — A Warner Robins man pleaded guilty to robbing a vape shop at gunpoint and attempting to hold his girlfriend against her will.
According to the Houston County District Attorney's Office, 20-year-old Avery Cole Turner pleaded guilty to armed robbery, false imprisonment and family violence in two separate cases on Thursday.
It all began on August 5 when Turner robbed the 478 Vape and Smoke Shop on Booth Road in Warner Robins.

The store clerk testified that a male suspect wearing a red hoodie, black pants, gloves and a face covering walked into a store, displayed a handgun and told her to "give me everything you got."
She put the money from the cash register into a bag, and the suspect fled the scene. She told investigators that although the man wore a face covering, she recognized him as a regular customer who, at one point, offered to sell her puppies.
Law enforcement did not identify the suspect as Turner until a few weeks later, when officers responded to a domestic dispute at his home.
Turner and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument, and as she attempted to leave, he grabbed her. She then kicked him and was able to escape and call the police.
She told officers about the incident and that Turner had admitted to armed robbery after he came home with $600 in cash. She explained that Turner had changed clothes after the theft and hid them in the woods near the Walmart on Booth Road.

It was there that investigators found the clothing and arrested Turner. During the booking process, they also confirmed that Turner's phone number was the same number the vape store clerk received when he tried to sell her puppies.
“I am especially grateful that the victim of family violence in this case had the courage to call law enforcement. Her willingness to speak up not only protected herself but also helped bring to light an armed robbery that otherwise might have gone unsolved," said Houston County District Attorney Eric Z. Edwards in a statement.
Turner was sentenced to 10 years in prison without the possibility of parole, followed by five years of probation.
"Avery Turner was held accountable and will spend the next decade in prison. Our office will continue to stand with survivors, pursue justice for victims, and protect the people of Houston County, "said Edwards.
